PRIVACY

What happens to a citation you enter

The website generates and checks citations in your browser. It does not offer a web account or save a bibliography on our server.

Direct metadata lookups

When you enter a DOI, ISBN or PubMed ID, your browser sends that identifier directly to Crossref, Open Library or NCBI respectively. Those providers receive the request and may process your IP address under their own policies. CiteRight's server does not proxy or store the identifier.

For a website or video link, you enter the title, author or channel, and date yourself. The reference is assembled on your device. The text overlap checker compares the draft and source text you paste on your device. The reference checker may send identifiers found in a pasted list to the metadata providers to look them up.

Hosting and advertising

Our web host receives normal requests needed to serve this site, including your IP address and requested pages. Google AdSense may process data when ads are loaded; see how Google uses information from partner sites. Where a consent choice is offered, use it to manage advertising preferences.

The Android app is a separate product with its own data practices described on its Google Play listing. Questions about this website can be sent to help@deplyra.com.
