ABOUT CITERIGHT
A citation tool with inspectable results
CiteRight builds references from source metadata and shows the fields it used, so you can check the result against the work you are citing.
Who runs this site
CiteRight is operated by Deplyra Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 16688270. View the company record. It is an independent tool, not an official service of Crossref, Open Library, NCBI, a citation manual publisher or a university.
What the web tool does
A DOI retrieves a Crossref record, an ISBN retrieves an Open Library edition, and a PubMed ID retrieves an NCBI record. CiteRight formats the returned fields in seven styles and shows the fields beneath the result. A web or video link needs details entered by you because this browser tool does not fetch arbitrary pages.
The reference checker looks for records and compares titles. The text overlap checker compares only the text you provide. Neither can decide whether a source supports your argument or whether your work satisfies an institution's plagiarism rules.
Read the lookup and checking method, the privacy explanation, or contact us about a faulty reference.
