Turn a list of DOIs into a bibliography
Paste up to ten article or chapter DOIs, one per line. CiteRight retrieves each Crossref record and formats a single reference list in APA 7, MLA 9, Harvard, Chicago author-date, IEEE, Vancouver or AMA. You can see which records failed instead of silently losing a citation.
Your browser sends each DOI directly to Crossref. CiteRight does not receive or store your list. Crossref may log the lookups under its own policy. Duplicates are included once.
How to use this bibliography builder
Copy the identifiers
Use the DOI printed on each paper or its doi.org link. Enter one on each line, without a title or other reference text.
Choose the required style
Use the version in your assignment guide. Harvard varies by institution; Chicago here is author-date, not notes and bibliography.
Check and export
Review every title, author and date against the publication. Copy the list or download plain text, then apply the hanging indent required by your style guide.
For example, a list containing 10.1038/nphys1170 will ask Crossref for the record titled “Measured measurement.” If the DOI has a typo or is outside Crossref, the tool reports that line separately; it never fabricates metadata.
What this tool can and cannot verify
A found record is still worth checking
A DOI resolves to deposited metadata, but the publisher can leave a field blank or enter it incorrectly. Compare the result with the paper, especially author names, publication year, page range and chapter title.
A missing Crossref record does not prove a work is fake
Some DOIs belong to other registration agencies. A temporary API error or rate limit also differs from a “not found” response. Failed entries remain visible so you can investigate them.
One source may need more than a DOI
Web pages without DOIs, books with ISBNs and PubMed IDs can be cited one at a time in the main generator. To check an existing reference list for mismatched titles, use the reference checker.
